The original dance caught attention when Keke Palmer’s partner, Darius Jackson, publicly commented on her revealing outfit, expressing his opinion about her being a mom. Palmer’s response comes through in the music video, which premiered on Usher’s official YouTube channel. In the video, Palmer is depicted preparing for a night out at a Las Vegas casino. She elegantly sings along to Usher’s 2001 hit “U Remind Me” while riding the elevator down to the lobby. There, she catches a glimpse of Usher, and the two share a brief connection.
The video takes a humorous turn as Palmer fully embraces Usher’s style and swagger. Donning the exact outfit as Usher, she joins him in a dance across the casino floor, showcasing their choreography skills. Usher’s song “Boyfriend” plays in the background with lyrics like, “Somebody said that your boyfriend’s lookin’ for me, Well, he should know I’m pretty easy to find, Just look for me wherever he sees you.”
The video takes an amusing twist as Palmer wakes up in her hotel room, realizing it was all a dream and that she missed out on the night’s excitement. With a wink to the camera, she playfully acknowledges, “I’m so tired… I am a mother, after all.”
In a social media post promoting the video, Palmer expressed her admiration for Usher and his impact on her journey as a performer. She recalled auditioning for “In The Mix” at the age of 12 and praised Usher’s talent and artistry. This music video marks Palmer’s first direct response to the drama sparked by Jackson’s comments in early July. Previously, Keke Palmer offered words of wisdom to new mothers in an interview with the Cut, encouraging them to embrace themselves and the love they receive from their children.
