Mandy Moore’s 2-year-old son, August, has been diagnosed with Gianotti-Crosti syndrome, a childhood skin condition characterized by itchy, blistering rashes. The “This Is Us” actress took to her Instagram Story to share the ordeal she went through last weekend as she sought answers for her son’s sudden symptoms.

Upon waking up on Saturday morning, August had a concerning rash, prompting Mandy and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, to initially suspect it was an eczema flare or allergies. Desperate to alleviate their son’s discomfort, they tried various remedies. They consulted urgent care, a pediatrician, a dermatologist, and a pediatric dermatologist before receiving a definitive diagnosis.

It turned out to be Gianotti-Crosti syndrome, a viral childhood rash that appears spontaneously. The rash covered August’s legs, feet, and the backs of his arms, causing significant discomfort. However, despite his condition, the resilient toddler managed to remain cheerful and went about his day like a true rockstar.

Mandy Moore learned that the treatment options were limited to steroid creams and Benadryl, and even with these measures, it could take 6 to 8 weeks for the rash to subside. She expressed the challenges of parenting, acknowledging that it can be weird and difficult at times, but she was grateful that it was only an itchy skin condition. Throughout the ordeal, her son’s smiles and laughter served as a source of strength.

Mandy Moore is also a mother to her 9-month-old son, Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett. Embracing motherhood with candor, she has been open about her experiences and was commended for sharing intimate and realistic photos from Ozzie’s birth last year. One of the snapshots captured Moore beaming with joy as she held her newborn son, still covered in amniotic fluid, against her chest.

Today, the actress revels in the joys of being a mom of two and cherishes the special bond between her two boys. She described how August is enamored with his little brother and finds endless joy and laughter in his presence. Mandy Moore’s journey as a mother has been filled with both challenges and love, and she continues to embrace each moment with gratitude and resilience.
