- If you feel that your joints are gradually becoming stiff, the pain is increasing day by day, or you feel that there is a blockage in the nerves somewhere inside the body, then listen carefully. Ayurveda says that when the vata dosha increases, the body’s pathways become blocked and due to this blockage, bones, joints and muscles become painful, stiff and the nerves get blocked. If you or someone in your family is facing such problems, I am going to teach you a very simple five-step Ayurvedic process, which if you follow it for just 20 to 25 minutes every day at your home, you will be able to get rid of all these problems. By following these steps, gradually you yourself will feel that the joints are becoming lighter, flexibility is returning and the body is feeling free again. This entire process is absolutely natural, scientific and based on the pure principles of Ayurveda. So let’s get started and take the first step towards restoring freedom to your body. Let’s move forward.
- The first step is to give love to your joints, that is, massage them nicely with warm Ayurvedic oil. Ayurveda says that when arthritis increases, the body becomes dry and oil is the best remedy for that dryness. You don’t need any complex oil for this, just simple Ayurvedic oils like Mahanarayan oil or Narayan oil or if you want to use Urani, you can use Rogan Surakh. All these oils soothe the arthritis dosha and nourish the joints. Just warm up two to three spoons of oil a little and start massaging it lightly on the painful joints or where it feels stiff. You should always massage in circular motions and with light pressure. You should not massage with your hands too hard. Another important thing to remember is that the direction of the massage should always be upwards, like from the feet towards the knees or from the hands towards the shoulders. You should never massage downwards. Remember this in particular. You need to massage the joints for at least 5 minutes so that the oil can penetrate deep and soothe the arthritis. This massage will not only give your body but also your soul a new sense of relief. So the first step you need to take is to massage wherever the pain is. After massaging the joints with oil, the next step is to dissolve that blockage, to break down that deposit that is the real cause of your pain and swelling. And the easiest way to do this is with hot fomentation i.e. fomentation while using hot water or steam. When you apply hot fomentation to the body, the blocked arteries start to open, the blocked air flow starts to flow again and the body feels light and supple again. For this, all you need is a simple towel and hot water. Soak a clean towel in hot water and
- Then squeeze it well and place the towel on your painful area and feel its warmth for 5 to 7 minutes. When the towel starts to cool down, soak it in water again, heat it, squeeze it and then repeat the same process. When you do this hot kneading, the arthritis stuck in your joints, nerves and veins will start to melt and gradually open the blockages which you will be able to feel at that moment. This simple step of just 5 to 10 minutes will fill your body with a new energy and make you feel relaxed. Now in the third step, when your body gets warm, tension will also build up and the blockages will start to ease, then the next step is to activate the important points of your body i.e. the Marma points. Ayurveda says that there are some special points in our body which control the flow of prana and when we stimulate and activate these points properly, the blockages in the nerves automatically dissolve. Although there are many marma points on the body, the most important of them are the two marma points on the hands, the first is the Shipra marma point which is located between your thumb and index finger and the second is the Manibandha marma which is located on the inside of your wrist. Apply a little oil on your hands and massage these two points in circular motions with light fingers for two to three minutes. Here too, you do not need to massage very forcefully, just a gentle touch is enough for you. When you stimulate these marma points, press them in this way, then the flow that is stuck inside your nerves becomes active again and gradually the whole body becomes filled with a new energy. This is a kind of small acupressure exercise that will help you naturally release your blocked nerves. After these three steps, in the next step, now we will try to dissolve the blockages in our body from the inside, that too through our breath. When rheumatism accumulates through breathing, not only the joints but also the blood vessels of our respiratory tract and the life flow of the entire body get blocked. When we breathe deeply and gently and focus all our attention on it, the air trapped inside the body starts removing your blockages one by one and the entire body is filled with a new vitality. For this, I am going to tell you a very simple and safe pranayama, which is Nadi Shodhana. For this, first you have to sit straight, keep your spine straight and press your right nostril with the thumb of your right hand, close this nostril and breathe through the left nostril. Now change the nostril with your index finger and close it from the other side and exhale through the side from which you closed it earlier. Repeat this process very slowly and with a calm mind for 5 minutes. Breathe through the alternate nostril. Keep inhaling and exhaling. When you breathe like this, the trapped air, trapped energy and nerve blockages inside your body are slowly dissolving and within a few days you will feel as if your body is flowing freely like a river again without any obstruction. This is how powerful this process is, so after doing all this in the fourth step and now in the fifth and final step, you need to take a gentle warm bath. Bathing in warm water will make you feel that the joints are feeling light, the muscles are relaxing and the body is feeling a strange sense of relief. Remember that even in summer, after doing this process, you should bathe only with warm water and not with cold water. However, not only for bathing, if you have joint pain or nerve blockages, Ayurveda says that you should avoid cold and dry foods like curd, cold drinks, raw salads and cold water etc. because all these things work to increase arthritis and make the joints stiffer. You can do this by including warm and nutritious foods like ghee, desi ghee, hot milk and khichdi in your diet, which are soft and easily digestible. These foods lubricate your joints from within and improve the flow of energy in the veins. Similarly, along with taking care of the outside, it is very important to keep our body warm from within as well. Drinking a cup of warm water on an empty stomach in the morning and drinking turmeric milk before going to bed at night also calms the vata dosha and relieves joint pain, do light exercise or stretching daily.
- Walking or exercising is very important for you because Ayurveda says that when there is no movement in your body, rheumatism starts accumulating and stiffness appears in the body. Friends, you have seen how easy it is to free your body again. If you take out just 20 to 25 minutes for yourself every day, then I can tell you in writing that the relief that will come to your joints, the relaxation that will come to your nerves and the energy that will come to your body, you have never felt before.
